Situation Report (from the debriefing)
(Continued) Team three changed position and joined the others in the sleigh garage. Somebody from Team 2 had opened the garage door. I stood there for a moment, over looking the snow covered mountains of Northern Japan, wondering how I'd have a snowflakes chance of getting these good people, and my brave reindeer, out of here. Santa came and stood by me as I looked out. He looked worried. Santa never looks worried. I kept thinking that the world had lost Christmas, only to get it back again . Now, if I failed my team ... my family, then the world's loss of Christmas would be upon me. Santa: (whispering) "Rudy - don't beat yourself up. You've already done so much, gotten so far. I'm really proud of you guys, but maybe you should take the reindeer that can still fly and get out of here. Candy, too. She small and you should be able to get her down the mountain if you work together. I looked up at Santa. His eyes were starting to tear, just a little bit and it tore at my heart. He would do it, too. Stay behind just so the rest of us would be safe. I just couldn't believe we'd come this far just to fail now. Rudolph: (into the walkie talkie) Base, how much time have we go left. Q-Pid: I figure just over three minutes Rudolph: Vixen - any ideas. Vixen: Could we toboggan down the mountain: Santa: (whispering) Dancer and Prancer are too busted up. They'd never make it. Donder: (who'd come to stand next to us and was looking out onto the mountains) - What in Frosty's name is that? He pointed and Vixen removed a pair of high-powered, night and vision amplification goggles. The looked for a few seconds before answering. Vixen: Well, I'll be a walrus' uncle. It's that little weasel Sparky the elf. He seems to be in some kind of gondola lift, like the ski places use. Santa: Oh my. I remember that thing. We haven't used it since the 40s. It always got too shook up in the wind. Rudolph: Could we use it now. Santa:(looking though Vixen's goggles) I don't know. It's pretty dangerous and it seems like Sparky's taken the only car...
