| Associates News Press Report: ANP embedded reporter Benjamin Quebert is with the Reindeer Revolution during their ongoing battle against the Enemies of Christmas. Auto Destruction in 2:21 Benjamin's story continues. As I watched, Just'l pushed the button and was bathed in a strange green light. He looked at me, something akin to fear in his eyes. After a few seconds, the light faded everywhere but in Just'l's eyes. They still glowed green. Just'l (in a strange, somewhat mechanical voice): Roger that base - I copy. We can take it from here. Then he reached down, tugged his seatbelt to make sure it was snug. Benny, he said to me. Sit down and hang on. Then he leaned over and pushed the white button. A loud hum resonated though the sled. Then, Just'l grabbed a T- headed lever at his right and pulled it back about half way. |
I tell you, gentle reader, that I was thrust into my seat like I'd been kick by a mule! Just'l pressed another button on the dash board to his right and a display popped up in front of him, seemingly projected onto thin air. It showed his speed and other sled-related readings, along with the positions and altitudes of other aircraft in the area. Q-pid's voice came to us over the radio. Q-Pied: Good - I see that you've found the heads-up display and engaged the Mach 3 engines. You have now achieved Warp 2 point - I mean Mach 2 point 4 and are holding steady. Your intercooler manifold pressure is at 97% of red line, so you can't go much faster than that. Just'l: How much time till we get there. Q-Pid - um, about 3 minutes. Just'l: That's not good enough. We need more speed. Just'l reached over to the t-headed lever and pulled it back some more. |
